Class Descriptions

Acoustic Guitar 12+

$40

The course begins simply with the parts of the guitar, the names of the strings, tuning, technique with strumming, and picking. It then explores the basic of music theory by using open chords, barre chords, chord transition, and chord progressions.

Beginning Cross-stitch 8+

$75

We will start off with a wooden heart, star, butterfly, or flower. A small cloth circle with multiple designs to choose from dinosaurs, butterflies, flowers, cactus, rainbows, hearts. We will also do bookmark and depending on how they advance and enjoy we will add more items.

Book Club 9-12

$55

  1. class is a book club where we will be reading the same book and discussing it. We will be reading two books. The books will be about 150 pages and fun and engaging. I am tailoring this class to 9-12 year olds. But, will let in someone older or younger based on their reading level and interest in the class. There will be reading outside of class required. We will be discussing what we read in the previous week in class, while enjoying yummy snacks!! Then we will start reading the weeks section in class, but will most likely have some reading that will be needed to be done at home. I am wanting to keep this at a minimum, hopefully only a chapter or two. Some of the books I am considering are "Mr. Poppers Penguins", "Shiloh", "The Swiss Family Robinson", "The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle", "The Pickle Song" and "The View from Saturday". Remember they are all about 150 pages. I am sorry that I don't have the books completely decided yet, but I will be reading all of them over the summer and then deciding. Possibly giving the kids in the class a chance to vote and decide. I will be buying a copy for each of the children in the class that they can keep.

Boomwhackers 5-Adult

$40

Boomwhackers are colorful tubes of various lengths that make different notes in the C major Scale. This class is fun for musical kids, those who like a good beat, and can follow basic directions. Parents are welcome to join their children in this class (no charge) if they would like.

Botany 9-14

$40

Get your green thumbs ready! As a botanist, your young scientists will learn how little seeds grow into blooming flowers and how plants and trees make their own food through photosynthesis. You won’t want to miss God’s handiwork displayed in the hands-on activities, captivating videos, and simple experiments included in this colorful, life-filled science unit.
12 week outline:
Lesson 2 – The Life Cycle of a Plant
Lesson 3 – Parts of a Plant
Lesson 4 – Seeds
Lesson 5 – Flowers: Part 1
Lesson 6 – Flowers: Part 2
Lesson 7 – Leaves
Lesson 8 – Photosynthesis
Lesson 9 – Plant Cells
Lesson 10 – Plant Classification
Lesson 11 – Growing Plants
Lesson 12 – Trees
Lesson 13 – Carnivorous and Poisonous Plants

Class Class 11+

$50

In this class we will be following in the footsteps of the animated adventure comedy series Camp Camp. The main setting of this series is Camp Campbell- an assortment of camps within a camp, a literal "camp camp". Its motto, Campe Diem, is a play on the Latin aphorism Carpe Diem (commonly interpreted as "seize the day").

In Class Class, we will be seizing every class with a new adventure! Using the camp camp theme song and other ideas, we will explore things like knot tying, first aid, painting/art, murder mysteries, bomb defusal, treasure hunting, ghost hunting and many more!

Crafty Cuties 4-6

$50

Crafty Cuties will be a very fun and creative class! This is for families who love holidays and seasons! We will focus on crafts surrounding our seasons and holidays during this semester being: Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Winter. We will read a book, sing a song and do a craft about that subject. Some crafts we might make are little happy ghosts, paint a wood Halloween house, glue little pumpkins around it, make a leaf book, make a turkey with beans and feathers, make a little snowman to name a few. We will mostly be painting, gluing, coloring and some cutting. This class will be so cute, so fun and creative! The bulk of the class time will be spent crafting, so if your child loves to craft this class is for you!

Some concerns you might have: Halloween books and crafts will not be scary/gory. Anything Christmas will not include religious tones. Christmas Crafts might include Santa/elf/reindeer. If your child does not believe in Santa, I ask that you only enroll your child if they can be respectful of those who might believe. I will not be teaching that he is or isn’t real, but it may naturally come up in conversation if we do a Santa type craft or book, and I want to be respectful of those who may believe. Being that we only have one class in December we will probably only have 1-2 classes surrounding Christmas.

Creative Writing for Beginners 8-12

$20

Students will explore the art of creative writing, focusing on character development, dialogue, setting, imagery, and narrative structure. Spelling and punctuation feedback will be provided but will not be the main focus of this class - I want to foster a love of story creation.

Have you wondered what happens when something goes wrong in your genes? Well, this class will explore all things pertaining to the things that make you who you are. Genetics is the study of how genes and traits are passed down from one generation to the next. Our genes carry information that affects our health, our appearance, and even our personality! National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day? There are so many obscure and random national days that have been declared that we don’t even know about – why not celebrate them? Come have some fun as we learn about some of these obscure days and what they are intended for.

Meet Yourself 14-adult

$45

Do you wonder why you think the way you do? Why other people act so differently than you do? What makes people react to different things so strongly? One reason is personality types. Personality typing is a way to describe a person's unique characteristics and behaviors, including their interests, values, drives, and emotional patterns. In this class we will learn about a few theories of personality typing with the goal of deepening our understanding our own behavior and responses to our environment. As we learn about ourselves, our understanding of others will also increase, helping each of us in our family relationships, friend relationships, future work and educational experiences, and general interactions with people every day. We will learn through activities, quizzes, videos, readings, thought exercises, and discussions. Although some of the authors approach their theory through a religious lens, we will be using a neutral framing in class (please ask if you have questions). This class could be used on a homeschool transcript as psychology or sociology.

Middle Grade Book Talk 12-adult

$15

Do you love Middle Grade (juvenile fiction) books? So do I! Do you want to learn about more Middle Grade books and get reading recommendations? So do I! This class will be a place to discuss books we've enjoyed and hear about books that others have loved! Each week we'll focus on a different genre and TALK BOOKS! I will have a class library for students to check out books from each week. Middle Grade books aren't just for kids in the middle grades. Anyone can read and enjoy them!

Moms & Toddler Time

$30

Come hangout at Moms & Toddler Time! PLEASE NOTE: This is not a drop-off class! Moms are required to be in class with their toddlers! This will be a dedicated hour where the toddlers can walk and run and play in an enclosed classroom. Door shut! No escaping! I will be providing toys each week for the toddlers to play with. I will be using class fees to buy toys for this specific age range. We won’t be allowing any children older than 3 in the class because we don't want any older kids overrunning the younger kids. Moms will be expected to attend to their toddler if there is hitting or pushing or any sort of rough behavior. I repeat, this is not a drop-off class! Moms come with toddlers. Hopefully us moms can get to know each other and socialize easier in a setting where we aren't worried about our toddler's getting away from us or getting into dangerous territory! We also will not be allowing screens in the class for the toddlers. This isn't a space for ipad or phone time to entertain the little ones. This is a dedicated hour of playtime! As the mom of course you can look at your phone! This is just instruction in regards to entertaining our littles.

Music Makers 4-6

$45

This is a class for preschoolers to come and enjoy music while moving their bodies! We will be enjoying music such as Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, See Me Running and others. We will be using music as a way to move our bodies and have fun. We might use props sometimes. Come and have fun moving your bodies!

Each week we will learn about a different person from history, then do activities that go along with their lives. Rockets, nursing, plants, animals and more! We'll create a timeline that shows how they all fit together in history.

Exploring different styles of poetry and writing their own. This class is for anyone wanting to learn and share a part of themselves.

Purposeful Play 3-5

$50

This class is for young children ages 3y-5y. The intent is to give them the opportunity to gather with a few peers and play while learning. This class will highlight 4 subjects with a unit study approach: names, shapes, colors & Christmas. Class will start with play time with sensory boxes and toys, where the children get to play with and alongside each other while learning to make friends, problem solve and take turns. After we clean up, we will have music time where we get to sing and learn actions to nursery rhythms, fun songs like Baby Shark and some classical music.

Teen Games and Activities 12-17

$30

In this class, we will spend the first 15 minutes or so of each class engaging the students in “getting to know you” activities and games. We want everyone in the class to get to know one another and to feel comfortable, accepted and included. The remaining time in class the students can select a variety of board games or card games to play, and puzzles if they would like to do a quieter activity together. If the students select a game that is difficult to finish in the time provided, we can take a picture of the game or keep it in storage so they can continue to play the following Monday. Students are free to bring games to share with the class as well. We look forward to getting to know your child and want to help them get to know others and make friends!

Warfare through the Ages 8-12

$60

Learn about the evolution of warfare throughout history through hands-on activities, crafts, and group activities. We’ll progress through history, starting from ancient times, learning about the history, cultures, and people that changed our world.

Each week will introduce new inventions and techniques that students will need to first create (using safe materials!), test, and adapt to, just like people in history had to!

Watercolors 14+

$70

Learning proper techniques and exploring how to paint with watercolors.

Westward-Ho! 9-13

$35

We all live in what is considered the western part of the United States and the exploration and settlement of the western half of our country is a period of adventure, danger, innovation, and hard work. Each week in our class, we will explore one particular aspect of the settlement of the west. From Lewis and Clark to the Gold Rush, Pony Express, and the Transcontinental Railroad, we will learn about one particular aspect of the westward expansion and complete one project each week. Get ready to discover the unique places and people that became what was at one point the Wild West but is now that place that we call home. Fun projects, interesting people, crazy history, come join us! Westward Ho!

This class is for kids that enjoy hands-on learning and are interested in learning about history. They need to be able to pay attention for a short instruction period and then be able to listen and follow instructions for the project portion of the class. There will be some group work done so it is will be best if your child can collaborate with other children. I do not prescribe to the viewpoint of Manifest Destiny and will stick more to the facts when it comes to land acquisition and settlement practices. We will be covering the arrival of Catholic missionaries in California but won't get into any theology.

Who Loves Dinosaurs? 5-8

$35

In this class, we will start out discussing a specific continent and the dinosaur bones that have been discovered on that continent. We will discuss fossils. The children will color their own continent page and each week we will discuss a specific dinosaur that they can add to their continent. Each Monday the children will complete a craft that they can take home after class. I will hold onto their continent pages, and at the end of the semester they will have a booklet of the continents with the dinosaurs found on those continents to take home. At the end of the semester, we will discuss the theories of what happened to the dinosaurs and create an erupting volcano demonstration together (apple cider vinegar and baking soda in a clay volcano). We will have a fun dinosaur party on the last day of class! I love anything dinosaurs, and I hope your child will have fun in this class with me!

Yoga

$60

Yoga literally means union- a joining of mind, breath and body. In this class, we will work on expanding those principles into accessible practices for each individual. Each week we will practice new routines that will include meditation, mindfulness, pranayama(breathwork) and physical poses including modifications for any of those poses. We will also work to recognize and accept ourselves as we are in the moment and some tools that can help ground us back into the moment whenever we need to.

This class is for anyone interested in learning about yoga, how to make yoga poses accessible for any fitness level, incorporating yoga and mindfulness principles into their lives or building on their current practice. The class will be geared towards adults but others are welcome to join.

Zentangles 12+

$45

Zentangle is a meditative and artistic practice that involves creating intricate, structured patterns using repetitive strokes that promotes relaxation, focus and the joy of mindful creativity.

My goal in teaching Zentangle is to provide a holistic experience for students that promotes concentration, relaxation, and boosts confidence in artistic abilities. As the students immerse themselves in the rhythmic flow of creating patterns, they naturally develop patience, attention to detail, and a keen sense of spatial awareness.

During this class, students will learn the Zentangle methods, new tangles, and create their own Zentangle designs
